A London fireman, William Wyatt won both the British 11st (70kg) weightlifting title in 1922, and the overall title of the London Fire Brigade. He won the Olympic trial at the Stadium Club, Holborn in 1924 and qualified for the Paris Games. Despite finishing 17th in the lightweight division, he was still the highest placed of the three Britons, ahead of John Tooley and William Randall.
