Biography

German weightlifter Marc Huster won two Olympic silver medals, at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics in the light-heavyweight class. In 1992, he placed seventh. Huster also won five gold, five silver, and two bronze medals at World Championships, and between 1997-99 won the European Championship golds.

Huster was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sport award. He first studied medicine but gave up his studies due to his sports career. He later trained as an industrial clerk and became a sports reporter with German TV channels Eurosport and later Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.
