Biography

German weightlifter Willi Reinfrank won the 1924 European lightweight title, and was placed second in 1929. He set 11 lightweight world records from 1924-27 – one in the press, one in the snatch, five in the clean & jerk, and four combined. He won the German National lightweight title in 1923-27, and the middleweight title in 1929. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics he finished fifth.

Reinfrank was a trained mechanic, but later worked as an auctioneer. During World War II he was reported missing in action on 1 January 1943 during the Battle of Stalingrad. In 1955 he was officially declared dead as of 31 December 1945.
