Biography

Ernő Porubszky began his sports career in 1941 as a weightlifter for the VAC. After World War II he competed in featherweight and flyweight for MTE, Csepeli MTK, Csepeli Vasas, and then Vasas SC. Between 1945 and 1955 he won ten individual and three team championship titles.

Porubszky competed for the Hungarian national team nine times between 1948 and 1954. He finished 12th in the flyweight competition at the 1948 London Olympics. Away from weightlifting he worked as a house painter both during and after his sports career.
