In the years after the war Italian weightlifter Giuseppe Colantuono represented APEF Milano. In 1948 Colantuono was selected to compete in the lightweight event at the London Olympics. After the military press, snatch, and clean & jerk he had lifted a combined total of 312.5 kg to place 12th overall. The competition also served as the European Weightlifting Championships, with Colantuono just missing out on a medal after finishing fourth. He was 96-years-old when he died in February 2025.
