Biography

Hilda Williams was the daughter of a Welsh-born bank manager. Apart from several triumphs at club level with the Mid Surrey Archery Club, Hilda Williams enjoyed little success on a larger scale. At the 1908 London Olympics she finished last of the 25 competitors with the lowest score (316) and least number of hits (82), from 144 arrows. However, she redeemed herself the following year when she won the prize for the greatest number of hits from 60 yards at the Grand National Meeting at Malvern, Worcestershire.
