Ina Wood came from a wealthy Sussex family of flannel and carpet merchants, and had plenty of time to pursue her pastime of archery, which her mother also took an interest in. As a member of the West Kent Society, Ina enjoyed considerable success at her home club, but limited success away from it. However, at the 1905 Grand National Meeting for the national championships at Southampton, she won the prize for the greatest number of golds (16), and at the same meeting at Oxford the following year, she was one of three archers to share the prize for the most golds from 50 yards. At the 1908 London Olympics, Wood finished a disappointing 22nd (out of 25) in the Double National Round.
