Biography

Ilie Dociu Enciu, a butcher by profession, was the winner of multiple Romanian championships and a record holder in the middleweight (≤75 kg) weightlifting category. A member of the 1952 Romanian Olympic team, he placed 18th in the middleweight competition in a field of 21 competitors. He later became a trainer and coach, accompanying the Romanian team to two Olympic games: 1980 Moskva (which included his son, Virgil) and 1984 Los Angeles. Deceased, date unknown.
