Fritz Hünenberger’s first major success was winning the 1919 German Light-Heavyweight Championship. He continued to compete in Germany, placing second at the 1922 German Championships, and taking the 1923 team title with his club, VfK Mannheim. He was the 1921 European Champion as a light-heavy, but his major international success came at the Olympics, winning light-heavyweight silver medals in both 1920 and 1924. Hünenberger set two light-heavyweight world records in 1918-19, one each in the snatch and total.
