Biography

Georg Weidner was an Austrian featherweight wrestler who took part in the 1948 London Olympics. He was eliminated by eventual gold medallist Mehmet Oktav from Turkey in the penultimate round and placed fourth finally.

Weidner was born in Germany and represented them before and during World War II. In 1938 he won the German nationals in the lightweight division. In 1942 he moved to Salzburg and received Austrian citizenship after the War. In 1950 he won the team championships in Germany with AC Bad Reichenhall.
