Vihtori Urvikko competed at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm in the 67.5 kg weight class, where he was eliminated in round 4 after suffering his second defeat. He won the Finnish Championship in the 73 kg weight class in 1910 and placed 2nd in 1911 representing Tampereen Pyrintö.
Urvikko became the father of seven children. His son played football, and his grandson Jouko played ice hockey in the top Finnish league. His great-granddaughter Annika Urvikko is one of the most successful Finnish female gymnasts of the 21st century and competed in the 2012 Olympics in London.
