Biography

His father, Jean Delmas, born in 1886 in Peyriac-en-Minervois (Aude), who died in 1962, was one of the founders of the French Wrestling Federation, of which he became President from 1939 until 1942.

At the 1924 Olympic Games, he was a referee, while his son Calixte was a competitor. The latter, born in 1906, died in 1927 following a fall from a “human pyramid” during a training camp at the Joinville school. He was 21 years old.

Jean Delmas’s second son, bearing the same first name, also joined the Joinville Battalion and became the long-time President of the French Wrestling Federation.
