Antonio Calebotta represented Italy at the 1960 Olympic Games in Roma where they finished fourth losing to the Soviet Union in the semi-finals 78-70. He made his national team debut on 15 September 1952 in a game against Austria.
The first Italian basketballer to stand over 2.00 metres Calebotta was a refugee from Dalmatia who was known for his 3-point shooting. In the Italian Championship, Calebotta held the record for scoring the most points in a single match, 59, against Benelli Pesaro in 1955. Professionally he played 14 seasons with Virtus Bologna winning two consecutive titles (1955, 1956) and was coached by Vittorio Tracuzzi.
