Biography

Bury-born wrestler Kenny Stephenson went to his first of two Olympics in 1960 as the reigning British lightweight champion. That was his only British title at the time of his call-up for his second Games in 1964 but, after that, he regained the British title in 1965 and held on to it the following year. Stephenson competed in the 1965 World Championships at Manchester and the European Championships at Carlsruhre, West Germany, the following year, when he was classified in sixth place. He later became a Northern area coach for the British Wrestling Association.
