A member of London´s Sparta Wrestling Club, Roger Till was the 1968 British lightweight champion. A dispatch clerk from Finsbury Park at the time, he was selected for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where he got past the first two rounds before being eliminated by the Indian Udey Chand. His opening bout saw him paired with the 1964 Olympic silver medallist, Klaus Rost of West Germany, which did not turn out well for Till, losing by fall.
