Flyweight wrestler Rolf Lacour had his greatest career moments at the 1965 and 1966 Greco-Roman World Championship, winning a silver and bronze medal, respectively. He also finished fourth in 1962, and was fifth in freestyle in 1969 and sixth in 1962. In 1969 Lacour won the European title in Greco-Roman, adding a bronze in 1967.
Lacour qualified for three consecutive Olympic Games from 1964-72. He was close to the medals each time, finishing fourth in 1964, and fifth in 1968, both in Greco-Roman. He then switched to freestyle, finishing ninth in light-flyweight in 1972. Domestically, Lacour won four West German Greco-Roman and six freestyle titles.
