Four-time Olympian Jürgen Scheibe was a freestyle wrestler representing West Germany at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and re-unified Germany at the 1992 Barcelona, the 1996 Atlanta, and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. His best result was a seventh place in Barcelona in the bantamweight class.
Scheibe also participated in four World Championships with limited success but won the silver medal at the 1995 Europeans and a bronze medal in 1989. Domestically, he won national titles in 1992, 1995-97, and 1999.
After his active career, Scheibe became Chief National Coach of the German women’s national team until 2009 and led them to the absolute top of the world. Eventually, he became Youth National Coach.
