German freestyle lightweight wrestler Georg Schwabenland was eliminated in the group stage at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He was more successful at European Championships, winning gold medals in 1991 and 1992, after two silvers in 1989 and 1990. At the 1991 World Championships he came fourth. Between 1987-93 Schwabenland won seven successive German national titles. By profession, he was a trained locksmith.
