Biography

Bavarian middleweight wrestler Hans Sterr finished unfortunate fourth in the Greco-Roman style and fifth in the freestyle at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Between 1953 and 1964 he claimed five West German national titles, six second places and one third. He also came fifth at the 1953 Greco-Roman World Championships and sixth at the 1957 freestyle edition.

After his competitive career Sterr worked as a coach for several years in South Africa. He then led a pub in Munich after his return home.
