West German freestyle wrestler Reiner Trik finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the middleweight class. Four years later at Seoul, he was unplaced. At the 1985 and 1986 World Championships he again finished an unfortunate fourth, and in 1987 was fifth.
Trik also participated in five European Championships with little success, except in 1984 when he won the silver medal. Trik won the German nationals in 1984, 1987, 1989 and 1990. Trik later turned to coaching.
