Biography

West German wrestler Georg Utz finished ninth in the middleweight class in the freestyle tournament at the 1960 Roma Olympics. In 1962 he participated in the World Championships in both styles, placing eighth in the freestyle and fifth in Greco-Roman. From 1959-62 he claimed six West German national titles in both styles.

Utz later became a coach in his home club ASV Kornwestheim and president of the club for more than 20 years. He trained as a machine fitter in his youth and later owned a general agency of an insurance company in Kornwestheim.
