Panagiotis Pikilidis competed at three Olympics (1984, 1992, 1996) as a heavyweight wrestler, placing fourth in Greco-Roman in 1984 and fifth in 1996. In 1983 he won gold medals in the World Youth Championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. Pikilidis won gold at the 1991 Mediterranean Games and won a bronze at that championship in 1987. He was twice placed fourth at the European Championships, in 1991 and 1993. He competed at three World Championships (1986-87, 1989), with a best finish of sixth in 1986. Beginning in 2007 he served on the board of PAOK (Panthessalonikeios Athlitikós Ómilos Konstantinoupoliton) FC in Thessaloniki. His brother, Georgios, also competed at three Olympics as a wrestler, from 1980-88.
