Biography

Bakos (born Brazsil) László started wrestling in 1937 in the colours of MTK. From 1940 he competed for MAC, from 1946 for MTE, from 1950 for ÉDOSZ, and then for Bp. Kinizsi. He won three national championship titles in the lightweight. In 1945 and 1947 he competed in Greco-Roman, and in 1948 in freestyle.

Bakos was the member of the Hungarian national team between 1945 and 1950. In 1948 he participated in freestyle at the London Olympics where he finished unplaced after two wins and one loss. He ended his active sports career in 1956 and then took on coaching duties. Between 1958 and 1962 he worked for the Autótaxi SE wrestling department. His civil qualification was a baker.

His nephew István Maróthy was also an Olympic wrestler and later a coach.
