Márton Erdős

Márton Erdős started wrestling in 1958 in the colors of the Bp. Mélyépítők SK. Between 1964 and 1989 he was a freestyle wrestler and then coach of the Budapest Honvéd until the dissolution of the club’s wrestling division. He was twice national champion in Flyweight, in 1967 and 1968 Between 1967 and 1970, he competed at the European Championship with a best of fourth position. He also finished sixth on two occasion. Erdős participated at the 1968 Olympics, where he was eliminated in the fourth round. After leaving Honvéd in 1989 he joined BVSC as a coach to the wresting division, where he was later the coach of many famous Hungarian wrestlers. Erdős continued training wrestlers into his seventies and enjoyed a reputation amongst his pupil as an excellent teacher and person. As a judge and secretary and then a member of the judging committee of the Hungarian Wrestling Association, he worked in competitions for many years.
