Biography

In 2004 Péter Farkas was discovered, with his brother, to be running a large marijuana farm in a suburb of Budapest. They were arrested and sentenced to five years in prison. Farkas fled, however, and was found in 2009 in Andorra, and arrested again. The sentence had been increased to seven years during his flight. Farkas had the following finishes at major championships – 1990 World Championship: 82.0 kg. Greco-Roman (1st); 1991 World Championship: 82.0 kg. Greco-Roman (1st); 1993 World Championship: 82.0 kg. Greco-Roman (5th); 1991 European Championship: 82.0 kg. Greco-Roman (1st); 1996 European Championship: 82.0 kg. Greco-Roman (2nd); 1989 European Championship: 90.0 kg. Greco-Roman (4th).
