In 1920 Jenő Németh began to wrestle in the colours of MTE, where he competed in Greco-Roman style in the featherweight division. After competing at the Paris Olympics in 1924, he won the European and National titles the following year. In 1926, Németh moved to Koblenz, Germany where he continued his wrestling career, before returning to Hungary with the hope of joining the 1928 Olympic squad but that did not materialise. He then moved back to Germany, where as a wrestler with Köln-Mülheim, he achieved some good results in the German Championship. By occupation Németh was a shoemaker.
