András Szoszky started his competitive career in wrestling in 1910. In 1912, he took part in the Stockholm Olympics, where was he was eliminated after two rounds. In 1913, he won the gold medal at the unofficial European Championships. Szoszky was a multiple Budapest champion when he finally won the Hungarian title in 1921. In the same year he emigrated to America and Chicago, where he worked as a painter.
