Poland’s Adam Ostrowski was a solider, military researcher, and a three-time Olympic wrestler. Ostrowski reached the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the Polish Army and worked as a researcher at the Military University of Technology. As a Greco-Roman wrestler he competed as a welterweight and a middleweight.
Ostrowski was the Polish champion in 1968 as a welterweight. He then won silver at the 1970 European Championships and bronze at the 1975 World Championships as a middleweight. Ostrowski competed at three consecutive Olympic Games; 1968 Mexico City, 1972 München, and 1976 Montréal, with a best finish of eighth-place in 1976.
Following his in-ring career Ostrowski became a youth coach at Legia Warszawa. For his sporting achievements he was awarded with the Master of Sports medal and the Gold Cross of Merit.
