Louis Baise was a freestyle wrestler who competed for South Africa during the 1950s. Baise, who was Jewish, won gold at the Maccabiah Games in 1950 and 1953. In between his two gold medals he also finished sixth in the flyweight class at the 1952 Melbourne Olympics. His finest moment came in 1954 with gold in the flyweight competition at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver. Baise later lived in Australia and was buried in a cemetery in Melbourne.
