Henry Allard was an active yachtsman whose most notable international competition was the 1928 Summer Olympics. Competing in the 6 metres, Mixed class alongside Jean Pierre Rouanet, Philippe de Rothschild, Pierre Moussié, Robert Gufflet on the Cupidon Viking, he finished eighth out of thirteen yachts in the event. The presence of a member of the Rothschild family on his vessel hinted at his connections to the world of finance; from 1929 until his death in 1953 he was, like his father, a broker on the Bordeaux stock exchange and he later became vice-president of the national union for French insurance brokers. He would eventually become the vice-president of the Cercle de la Voile d’Arcachon yachting club and was also a member of the Maritime Federation steering committee. He took part in World War I as a pilot and received the Croix de Guerre, as well as induction into the Legion of Honor for his service.
