Biography

Born in Mexico in 1954, Jorge Flores was the second-oldest of 10 children. In his youth Flores loved to play sport where he had a particular talent for basketball. He soon became a member of the Mexican national team and competed at the 1975 Pan American Games and the 1976 Montréal Olympics. After the Olympics he moved to East Liverpool, Ohio and enrolled at Kent State University. Whilst studying at the university Flores also played for the Kent State Bridgers basketball team. He settled in the United States, working at the Homer Laughlin China Company in West Virginia, and was later involved in helping with YMCA Youth Basketball League for several years.
