Emilio Giassetti was a Dalmatian and his original family name was Jaksetic but he was obliged to change it to Giassetti after the rules of 1929. He won three Italian titles with Ginnastica Triestina (1930, 1932, 1934) and two with Olimpia Borletti Milano (1936-37). He débuted with the Italian National team in Roma on 11 May 1930 in the winning match against Switzerland (36-13) and was at two European Championships, with a seventh place in 1935 and a silver medal two years later. He competed at the Berlin Olympics where the Azzurri placed seventh. In the match against Germany, the Azzurri scored 58 points, its best at Berlin. Giassetti earned 16 international caps, scoring 53 points.
