Manton Bayley played singles and doubles at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He also played at Wimbledon in 1924, for the only time, losing in the singles in round three, going out in the first round of doubles (with Jim Willard) and mixed (with Helen Bourne [GBR]). Bayley was from Orange, New South Wales and won the Orange District title from 1919-26. He was New South Wales Champion in 1923. While in Europe for the Olympics, Bayley also won a tournament at Hampshire, England and was runner-up at the Irish Championships, and in the Bournemouth doubles. Bayley served for a time as the manager of the Primary Producers’ Bank, until it closed its doors. In 1931 he became director of the Richmond Cricket Club in Melbourne.
