In 1924, Edwin Jacob won a silver medal in the 8-metre class at the Paris Olympics when he was one of the five-man crew aboard Emily. He enjoyed many of his successes between 1923-29, however, aboard the East Coast One Design (ECOD), Joyce, which he co-owned with Kenneth Elphinstone and R. Proctor. From 1930, Jacob raced the under-8 ton class Bubbles II, and they enjoyed success in his home town at that year’s Burnham Week.
