Bertel Juslén’s father was a pharmacist and he himself entered the pharmacy course as a student in 1897. Four years later, he graduated from university in pharmacy and became a regular pharmacist in 1908. He worked in the pharmacy of his brother-in-law in Helsinki for many years. In 1928, he moved to the town of Kotka and opened his own pharmacy. He was long-time member of the board of the Finnish Pharmaceutical Association and its chairman from 1919-28. In this position, he was involved in founding the Pharmacy Museum. From 1920, he was a medical officer in the 2nd Battalion of the Old Boys Regiment.

As a member of the Nyländska Jaktklubben, Juslén was chairman of the club’s prize committee from 1922-23. He was a crew member of the Finnish yacht “Örn”. Although the boat placed third in both races of the 8 metres class at the Stockholm Olympics they missed the bronze medal race ranking fourth on accumulated points.
