Wolfgang Mayrhofer was an Austrian sailor who started sailing at the age of five. He surprisingly won the silver medal at the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) Olympics when the sailing events were held in Tallinn, Estonia. Mayrhofer won the medal in the one-person dinghy Finn class. From 1963-73 he sailed Optimist, the most popular single-handed boat for children below the age of 15. He sailed OK-Dinghy from 1974-76 and Finn-Dinghy 1976-83.
