Tom McMeekin was the owner of Dormy which won the 6-metre class at the 1908 Olympic Games. He nominated the designer of the boat, Gilbert Laws, as helmsman and chose to act as crew together with Charles Crichton. McMeekin did much of his sailing from the Itchenor Club.
