Biography

Keith Musto began sailing at the age of 15 and went in to become a successful international dinghy sailor, and in 1963 he won the Flying Dutchman World Championships silver medal with Tony Morgan. The following year the pair won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and gold at the European Championships. In addition to winning the national title, Musto and Morgan added a silver medal at the 1966 Europeans and in 1969 Musto won a world championship bronze medal with John Wigglesworth as fellow Britons Rodney Pattison and Iain Macdonald-Smith won gold. Musto was also the inaugural British and European Tempest champion with Ian Winter. Musto came close to a second Olympic appearance in 1972 but was in the Flying Dutchman reserve craft with Paul Davies. The following year Musto was appointed coach to the Japanese sailing team. After the 1964 Olympics, Musto got involved in sailmaking with Edward Hyde before founding his own clothing company in 1980. His clothes are now worn by sailors worldwide and the company also makes specialist clothing for hunters, anglers, competitive marksmen, and equestrian riders. In 2013 Musto was awarded the OBE for his services to the economy
