Hans Henrik Stoermann-Næss was not only active as a sailor, but also competed as a race-car driver on ice with an open 1916 Studebaker. In his hometown of Bergen, Stoermann-Næss worked as a clerk for a coal trader. He was later a shipbroker and acted as chairman of the local association of shipbrokers.
