German sailors Torsten Haverland and Ronald Rensch sailed in the two-person dinghy (470) class at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, placing 12th. The competitions were held at Savannah, Georgia. In 1992, both earned their only German national title. Rensch won another title in 1995 with Stefan Meister, and both also earned a bronze medal at the European Championships the same year.
