Malcolm “Huck” Scott grew up in Fremantle, Western Australia and began sailing at a young age with the local Junior Fremantle Sailing Club. In 1956 at the age of 20, he was chosen to compete in the Olympic Games in Melbourne alongside Rolly Tasker in the 12 Square meter Sharpie class (Two Person Heavyweight Dinghy) event, capturing the silver medal and became the first Australian sailing crew to sin an Olympic medal. After retiring from active competition, Scott was involved in various sailing coaching and administration roles until his death in 1993 at the age of 58. The annual Huck Scott Winter Series of the Fremantle Sailing Club was named in his memory in 1994.
