Born in Islington, London, Federico Brewster moved to Argentina where he competed as a sprinter. Brewster won bronze in the 400 metres at the 1924 South American Championships before going on to represent his country at the Paris Olympics. At the Paris Games he finished in second place in his heat in the 400 metres to advance to the quarter-finals but did not progress any further. Brewster was also scheduled to run in the 800 metres and the 4 × 400 metres relay in Paris but did not start in either race. After the Olympics he won gold in the 400 metres and the 400 metres hurdles at the 1926 South American Championships.
