Biography

Argentine track and field athlete Hermenegildo de Rosso specialised as a middle-distance runner. De Rosso won silver in the 800 metres at the 1929 South American Championships in Athletics in Lima. Two years later he went one better to win gold in the event, along with silver in the 1,500 metres at the 1931 championships. This earned him a place on Argentina’s Olympic team for the 1932 Los Angeles Games where he ran in both races, but did not advance from the heats in either. A year later De Rosso won silver in both events at the 1933 South American Championships in Athletics in Montevideo.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:54.9 (1932); 1500 – 4:04.8 (1929).
