Biography

June Heath was a javelin thrower who competed at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Heath was a good athlete who started out playing vigoro for a Newcastle Side. She married Ted Heath in 1948 and then took up javelin throwing after the birth of their daughter in 1950, winning the Northern District title that year. She was a multiple champion of New South Wales and set Australian records in the javelin. At the Australian Championships, Heath was second in 1956 and 1964 and third in 1963.
