Ted Allsopp was a renowned Australian race walker who competed at the 1956 and 1964 Olympics. During his career he won 11 Australian titles and 23 medals with 32 gold medals at the Victorian Championships with 66 medals in all. His Victorian medals were won over a 26-year span, from 1946-72. He also set numerous Australian and Victorian race walking records, over varied distances. Allsopp raced his entire career with Williamstown Harriers. After retirement he started a new career as an artist.
