Biography

During World War I Malcolm Boyd served in the Australian Army in 1917 and 1918. In the role of a combat engineer known as a sapper, Boyd was stationed in Egypt with the 2nd Australian Division Signals Company. After the war he returned to Australia where he took up middle-distance running with St. Stephens Harriers in Mount Waverley, a suburb in Melbourne. Boyd was selected to compete at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he ran in the 800, 1,500, and the 5,000 metres.
