Australian track and field athlete Charles Lane represented St. Stephens Harriers in Mount Waverley. A specialist in sprinting, Lane was selected to compete in the 400 metres at the 1924 Paris Olympics but did not advance from the heats. Three years after the Olympics he finished second in the 220 yards at the Australian national championships.
