Jack Newman was an Australian middle-distance runner who represented St. Stephens Harriers in Melbourne. In 1922 Newman finished third in the 880 yards at the Australian Open Track & Field Championships, earning himself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1924 Paris Games he ran in both the 800 and 1,500 metres but did not advance from the heats in either. Newman later helped to found the Old Melburnians Athletics Club after its precursor, the Hare & Hounds club, folded.
