Austrian table tennis player Gottfried Bär partnered Ding Yi at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. The pair was eliminated in the group stage and failed to reach the quarter-finals. Bär participated at five World and four European Championships without any significant results.
Domestically, Bär played with TTC Raiffeisen Kuchl and won the Austrian national team title in 1975-76, and 1981. He later played with Waldegg Linz, Stockerau, and Polizei Wien (Vienna). In 1983 Bär won the federal ranking tournament.
