Middle-distance runner Thomas Ebner was Austrian champion in 800 metres (1994), 1,500 metres (1995-96), cross-country-short (1997), and 3×1,000 metres relay (1994-95, 1997). He qualified for the 1,500 metres at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics but failed to advance to the second round.
At the 1994 European Championships, Ebner competed over 800 metres and was eliminated in the heats. In 1996, he reached the 1500 final at the European Indoors and finished seventh.
